Wireless Alarm Systems

PROS AND CONS

It is good to know that the most difficult and costly aspect in the economy of an alarm system is the installation or wiring the building. In case of breaking walls residential construction will lead to more inconvenience from dust and debris generated by the painstaking rebuilding of walls appearance. If the trunking to be used in addition to the above, however this quality would still be visible generating a discomfort and are therefore unsightly.

However all this issues will disappear if we opt for wireless systems.

Sensors can be installed easily in any place of the room, as well the central units. Even this very advanced systems have a weak spot: the battery. A first aspect is related to the cost: premium batteries (lithium-ion ones) are expensive, other types have a short period of use. In addition it is difficult to quantify how long time will "hold" because the operating time of that battery depends on consumption: the use of a permanent sensor will drain the battery faster than one in stand-by.

Then the actual process of changing batteries can be difficult. If the sensors are used at 4 meters height will require a ladder and two people for safety.

Let's take a practical example

For a house with yard we need 4 outdoor PIR sensors; 6 internal sensors, two sets of magnetic controls, a central unit and two remotes.

So we use 4x2 + 6x2 = 2x2 1.5v AA LR6 batteries = 24 batteries need replacing on average 2 times a year, that we will need 5 sets of 10 (family pack) which will cost around 150 ron.

The decision is yours!
